These are the main points of the method

• Lots of love, patience, focus and determination
• Toss the diapers(have your child do it)
• Let them run around the house in just underwear and shirt(makes it much easier to see accidents)
• Lots of liquids to drink
• Stay by their side every second of every day, so that you can watch for when they are going to go and when they do, whisk them to the potty
• Lots and lots and lots of praise(and some rewards, we are using m&m’s…he gets 2-5 per pee on the potty)

So far I would say that it is going really well. For the child who only did a tiny sprinkle in Grandma’s toilet one evening when she was watching him. He became the child who pee’d on the potty four times on the first day, I believe we had three or four accidents. He also pee’d a tiny bit in his underwear each time, but because I was watching I whisked him right up to the potty and he would finish there. Today was day two, from 8-noon he was in the same pair of underwear and went potty 3 times without them getting wet. In total he pee’d eight times on the potty and had two accidents, and only two times where there was some pee first. We were waiting for the big #2 and then daddy gave him a bath. But Daddy didn’t follow the rule of watching the big boy at all times, instead he was talking on the phone with a friend while pacing in the bathroom. So for the very first time in Joseph’s 32 months of life, he pooped in the tub. And A LOT! Oh well, daddy had to clean it up and we moved on. Hopefully we have another chance to potty train with #2 soon!

It’s been fun the last two days(as well as a little stressful and hectic) But I can really tell that Joseph loves me being by his side almost every second of the day. My eyes are constantly on him and I follow him around. Noramlly there is a lot of time during the day where he gets to do his own thing while I get stuff done around the house but the last two days because I have been on potty watch we have spent plenty of time together! Joseph is one smart cookie, although he struggles with his colours, he is picking up shapes really fast! His favorite is the circle and he points it out every where and can even draw a circle now! He mimics the ABC song and I hope that with me singing it anyone from 1-10 times a day he will pick it up soon. His favorite movie as of last sunday (which this is his first as he has never been interested before now) is Wall-E. He loves it and asks for it multiple times a day(I try to make it only once, although with the constant training we did watch it twice yesterday) He loves to paint…way more than he loves to colour! And his vocabulary grows by multiple words a day. It’s so much fun to watch him grow and learn and change!

Christmas around our house has been interesting this year. We have to constantly watch Joseph(like going into the kitchen to get a glass of water while he is unoccupied could be fatal) We are missing a lot of the Christmas balls off of our tree because well a lot of them are missing their tops. One was also lost in action because Joseph threw it against our patio window, cauding it to smash. Other onaments and bows are routinely taken off if as I mentioned before Joseph is left a long for too long of a period. He also thinks that he enjoys candy canes and is constantly asking for candy, however if you give him some he will suck it for a moment, then chew and then proceed to spit it out on the floor, or your hand, or his hand but then he will wipe it all over his clothes or the couch.  Another fun thing was the advent calendar. He knows it holds chocolate and at the beginning of the month he did not grasp the one a day concept. So we really had to watch him to avoid him grabbing anything that would give him a little more height so that he could hopefully reach the calendar, luckily he never succeeded!

We already knew we had a busy boy, but we didn’t quite comprehend how well busy and terrible two’s could go hand in hand. He will be with me in the bathroom, and if I don’t glance over almost every single second from doing my hair or make-up, there could be a problem like unrolling the toilet paper into the toilet, sticking his hand into vaseline or diaper cream, squirting my loition or mousse all over the place. Until you have met my son and seen him in action you truly have no idea of how fast he can be, it literally takes seconds. So after twice finding him in the upstairs hallway with my liquid laundry soap that has a pump, pumping soap all over my floor and other objects, needless to say, all the upstairs doors have child locks on them. Our door, the bathroom and the laundry room on the outside, and his bedroom, it’s on the inside.

It’s a good thing we love our little monkey so much because there are many a day that we almost pull our hair out!!

And anyone who knows Joseph well, knows that he is really good at giving dirty looks. There is no questioning if he is upset with you or not. You just know it! Here is a classic Joseph look:

Trying to overcome picky eating is definitely going to take awhile but hasn’t been as horrible as I thought it would be. Is he eating fruits or veggies yet? you ask, the answer is a big fat NO. But I have no doubt that we will get there!

Monday-Jordan let him fall asleep on the couch at 4, he slept for 45 mins and didn’t go to bed till 10 like usual

Tuesday- We had gymnastics and  then some running around afterwards, fell asleep in the car for around 30 mins. Went to bed at 9, there was some crying and super nanny technique involved

Wednesday- Success! He woke up at 8 and went down at 7:45

Thursday- Success! He woke up at 8:10 and was asleep by 7:45 again.

I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult having him awake for an extra two hours a day, but it’s really not so horrible, especially since I now have more me time in the evening. Hopefully it continues on as well as it has been. Stay tuned for adventures on turning a picky eater and potty training. Both activities which we are jumping head first into!

Maybe this is why so many moms have 2 under 2, so that they can nap during pregnancy while their first child is sleeping…smart!

Anyhow life continues on, and I am sure I will survive with an extra two hours of entertaining my little ball of energy*especially when it means he will go to bed earlier*

Birthday morning, the unhappy face is because I put him back in the crib to get this picture! It’s the last picture I have of him in his crib, because 3 short days later he advanced to a toddler bed!

Jordan let me sleep in because of Mother’s day. When I woke up it was pretty quiet in the house when is pretty unusual if you know Joseph. So I went downstairs and I found the two loves of my life like this…
